Read advice here and there at no avail. Always it ended up with a message that installation had failed, and then I was asked to do a restart to return XP to IE6. I just copied Your "secedit"-command for XP Pro into "Run" and as was said before, 10 minutes later it was fixed. Install of IE7 went then on to a successful end. ....going on mostly using Firefox...
