Melanie and I went to her company holiday party on Friday night. Quiksilver has many, many employees… so, they had a huge tent set up in their parking lot. DJs spinning, arcade games, photo booths, appetizers, and oh yeah… drinks. (all freeeeee)
They also had many give-aways, and the “money booth”. This phonebooth-sized box was filled with cash and then turned on a huge fan inside it. The occupant had 90 seconds (I think) to grab as much of it as they could. There were some pretty inventive folks there… one guy held his t-shirt out from the waist and let all of the cash fall into it as he held the hem of the shirt against the wall of the booth. He ended up with about $350. Then later as we were passing the stage, some other dude was coming down off of the stage and said he got $1800. What the heck did this guy do!?! How did he get all of that cash? I’m not sure if I want to know where he was holding all of that cash.
Mel and I were talking about how she would hold all of the cash if they called her name to go up in the booth. And she said “yeah, that’s if they even call my name!”. Not 2 minutes later, the em-cee called her name… “Melanie Bernhart”…. (and we both looked at each other and freaked) … “come on up and get your iPod Nano!”. So, she didn’t get to go into the money booth, but… she does have a shiny new white 2GB iPod Nano. She’s stoked!
We danced a lot… had a few drinks, and danced some more… ate something, drank more, danced more. Good Times! [next Saturday, we get to go to the QS distribution center party... a bit more formal at the Disney Hotel in Anaheim]
