So, Mel and I decided to treat ourselves and go out to eat on Saturday night. In the mood for sushi, but wanting to go somewhere we haven’t tried yet… we ended up at The Cannery on Lido Peninsula in Newport Beach.
We went up to their bar, aptly named “The Jellyfish Bar”, and had some pretty good sushi. I noticed that there were some cool glass sculpture lights hanging from the ceiling and pointed them out to Mel. She then pointed several dozen others that I hadn’t seen. They were all jellyfish hanging from the ceiling… different shapes, colors, and sizes. You can see some of them in the photos on the restaurant’s web site.
The following day, we went to the beach (Huntington, edge of river jetties). Although the surf was miniscule at best, I wanted to get wet anyways. I spent about 30 minutes in the water… playing dodge ‘em with these black jellyfish. Apparently we’ve been invaded by them the past few weeks.
